Programming
Where innovation, efficiency, and problem solving come together
CouchSurfing.org
Helped facilitate the CouchSurfing technology team in implementing new features, fixing website bugs, creating an operations process, and focusing on user experience design.
Color Theory Learning Object
This learning object “Illuminating Impressions” is an
online learning object intended to help web designer students and professionals
understand key concepts in color as it relates to the web, to improve their color
scheme designs. The Color Theory learning object demonstrates my ability to apply
pedagogical concepts from educational psychology into the design of an interactive
online experience.
The learning object utilizes a constructivist
teaching methodology in order to provide a rich educational experience which
facilitates reflection and knowledge expansion.
Olin Health Center
The Olin Health Center website marks one of my first experiences in the web development/design area. The programming was done in PHP with MySQL database backend.
There are two parts, the public side which has a plethora of medical related information, complete with search engine, and the ability to browse common categories. Second the administration side, which allows almost complete control over the look, content, and the navigation of the site. This site taught me much of what I know with regards to web programming.
College of Arts & Letters
This project required building a password protected alumni area where each alumnus had their own login information and could edit their personal information.
The solution included a login screen, password reminder, the ability to browse/search the directory and each user could change their personal information. This project also allowed an administrator to login and administer the users.
Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities
CISAH required a media library in order to allow staff to search/browse media and then reserve it online.
The solution involved created a database driving search/browse section that allowed specified users to reserve media. This part was coupled with an administration side which managed the media library, the allowed users, checking in and out of media, and email reminders for late media. Learn about the design.
MSU today
With fluid design and efficient programming using PHP and MySQL MSU today provides daily information to hundreds of thousands of users. This site contains a user side which displays news articles about MSU along with an administration side which enables quick and easy management of articles, main page content, and the photo gallery.
photos.msu.edu
photos.msu.edu is dynamically driven with a PHP/MySQL backend. It efficiently provides access to excellent quality photos for print and web. The programming involves automatic image generation, dynamic categories, and an easy to use layout that facilitates quick purchasing. Check out the design.
MSU Official Graphics Standards
graphics.msu.edu has PHP programming that provides quick access to Official MSU graphics. Programming involves a user side with password authentication, and multiple image formats for each graphic desired. It also includes an administration side that allows quick additions of new graphics, and the ability to allow private access to vendors. Check out the design.
